Modern Family is a mockumentary that follows the lives of the family of Jay Pritchett. Jay's family however, is anything but traditional. Jay lives with his second, much younger wife, her son from a previous marriage and their new baby. Jay's grown daughter, Claire is a homemaker for her husband Phil and three very different children. Rounding out the extended family is Jay's gay son, Mitchell, his husband and their adopted, Vietnamese daughter, Lily. The lives and relationships of these three very different families interweave throughout each episode highlighting just how different it is to be a part of a "modern family".
