Reign, a highly fictionalized American TV series set in 1557 France, follows the life of Mary, Queen of Scots. When Mary, played by Adelaide Kane, arrives in the French court to await her marriage to the future King Francis II of France, she is merely 15. She has been betrothed to this stranger since the age of 6, but she is thrust into the dark world of the court where changing politics and unending secrets threaten. In the midst of the intrigue, the audience also follows Mary?s best friends, her Scottish ladies-in-waiting, as they pursue their own potential husbands from the court.
