Adapted from the 1960 Hitchcock psycho-thriller film classic Psycho, Bates Motel continues the strange goings-on at the iconic seaside motel. Following the death of her husband, Norma Bates and son Norman move to the remote location, hoping a fresh start in brand new surroundings will give them both closure from their loss and allow them to develop a better mother-son relationship. As owner-operators of the formerly run-down motel, the Bates have their hands full in their new life. Things start off innocently enough, but the Bates quickly discover that their new town, despite its small size, has an unsavory history that eventually impacts everyone involved, and learning who can be trusted (or not) turns into a risky proposition. As if there wasn't already enough unsettling mysterious factors to deal with, the unexpected appearance of Norma's long-estranged son adds even more drama and intrigue.
