Attempting to bring their marriage back to life, Nick and Meg decide to revisit Paris, the place where they had honeymooned years earlier. The British couple hope to recapture the love and joy of their first trip in the hopes of saving what both view as a dying marriage. Throughout the two days, the couple works to find a new spark between them but only succeed in raising long-simmering tensions. As years of buried resentments bubble to the surface, Nick and Meg seem to be falling apart after all. The pair begin to resign themselves to the fate of either living out their unhappy lives the way they are or facing divorce until a surprise dinner invitation from Nick's old friend, Morgan, arrives. While dealing with the American's boorish ways and wild humor, the two slowly begin to see the hope of a happy future and the marriage they had hoped to find on their get-away.
