In this reality television series, a camera crew follows three men who live completely off the grid. The men have forgone the amenities of modern conveniences to live off whatever the land provides them. It's supposed to be a simpler way to live when you aren't bogged down with all of the different technology the modern world has to offer. But when the regions explored range from the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Southern US, to the northernmost areas of the Alaskan wilderness, life can be anything but simplistic. The camera crews don't shy away from adventure - they face wild animals, mudslides, perilous weather - and watch as the men prepare for each of their versions of a harsh winter.
