A bullet wound while on duty lands Officer Rick Grimes in the hospital. While he's re-cooperating, the unthinkable happens. The world outside his hospital room devolves into a waking nightmare. The dead walks among the living, feeding on their bodies and turning them into zombies. Rick sets off to find his wife and son, stumbling across survivors along the way. The more he sees, the more he realizes that he'll need to work together with those he finds if he wants to survive. As they hack and slash their way through hordes of ravenous cadavers, Rick learns that some things are even scarier than a zombie apocalypse.
