After becoming separated overnight on a family hike, a mother and father are thrilled to be reunited with their son and daughter. Their relief is short-lived, however, when they notice troubling changes to their children's behavior on their return. With no explanation for where the children have been or what has happened to them, the parents are at a loss to explain the children's behavior. When they become aware of a bizarre local legend that seems too outlandish to be true, they try to shrug it off. However, continued concerns about their children's behavior lead the parents to believe there may be truth to the legend. Their concern that something evil has happened to the children during the time they were missing increases, and they come to believe that the evil has followed the children home.
