Young Mia Hall is a bright-eyed cellist who once thought that her biggest challenge in life would be choosing between getting a world-class musical education at the faraway Juilliard School in New York City and staying with her sweet-natured boyfriend Adam. Mia is devoted to classical music, while Adam is all about rock music. Despite this major difference, they dote on each other. Confusion and frustration regarding whether or not to strive for musical success or personal happiness tugs at her brain incessantly, troubling her. One fateful day, however, all of that changes in a flash. Her entire family passes away in a car accident. She's the sole survivor, but she's in a coma. The teenager's mind is in a state of uncertainty regarding the future. At this point, she has to make the true biggest decision of her life thus far. She can opt to pass away along with her beloved family members. She can also opt to survive, recover and deal with the intense pain of the experience.
