Twenty one years after the original series discontinued its run, the family epic "Dallas" returns. The new generation of offspring features cousins John Ross Ewing III, son of J.R. Ewing, and Christopher Ewing, adopted son of Bobby Ewing. Present SouthFork owner Bobby is resolute in his determination to protect the pledge he made to his late mother, Miss Ellie, while his disreputable and calculating brother J.R. returns to the ranch with his own plans to set in motion. The young cousins hold very different ideas as well of what they see as the fate of their oil empire and family wealth, and the future of SouthFork is uncertain. Quick-tempered John Ross, with J.R.'s clever guiding direction, is determined to drill the land while Christopher, supported by Bobby, investigates alternative fuels while planning to donate SouthFork to a conservatory. Elena Ramos, a childhood friend of both cousins, complicates matters further as both compete for her affection. A saga of greed, ambition, lust and deception, "Dallas" is a family fighting for both its history and its future.
