The comedy Modern Family chronicles the adventures of the Pritchett family in Los Angeles. This large extended family consists of patriarch Jay, his much younger wife, his two grown children from his first marriage and his grandchildren. Gloria, Jay?s beautiful and spirited second bride, comes from Colombia. Her shiftless ex-husband Javier visits occasionally and creates conflict for her and Jay, their infant son Fulgencio and Gloria?s teenage son Manny from her marriage to Javier. Jay?s daughter Claire, a homemaker, and her realtor husband Phil have three children. Their oldest child Haley is a typical teen more interested in boys and parties than grades. Middle child Alex, the studious daughter, yearns to be pretty and cool like her older sibling. Luke, the youngest child, takes after his not so bright father. Jay?s gay son Mitchell and his partner Cameron form the third branch of the clan along with Lily, their adopted Vietnamese child. The serious Mitchell works as an attorney while the flamboyant Cam is a homemaker and Lily?s primary caretaker.
