"Homeland" follows the homecoming of Marine Gunnery Sergeant Nicholas Brody and CIA officer Carrie Mathison's suspicions that he is no longer an American hero, but a secret operative for al-Qaeda terrorist Abu Nazir. After eight years of being held captive in Iraq, Nicholas Brody is rescued during a raid of Abu Nazir's compound. Acting on intelligence obtained during an earlier unsanctioned operation in Iraq, Carrie Mathison suspects Brody is a prisoner of war turned terrorist and his reappearance means a terrorist attack is imminent. However, this illicit operation has put Carrie's judgment in question by the agency and she relies the help of her mentor and boss Saul Berenson to secretly investigate Nicholas Brody.
