The Big Bang Theory tells the story of Leonard, his roommate Sheldon and their group of friends. The first season introduces the character of Penny, who is a seemingly dumb blond who moves in across the hall. Though she and Leonard are initially just friends, they later begin dating and breakup while still trying to remain friends. During the first season of the series, many of the jokes revolved around Penny and Leonard's relationship, but later seasons focused more on the background characters of Howard and Raj. Raj is a genius who can't speak around women, while Howard loves the ladies but can't connect to women until he meets Bernadette. Sheldon, the smartest of the group, also forms his own relationship with the equally smart Amy Farrah Fowler. While the characters in The Big Bang Theory are book smart, they lack life smarts, which leads to many of the jokes in the series. From learning how to recover after a breakup and feuding with a famous celebrity to trips to the comic book store and living at home, The Big Bang Theory looks at every aspect of life.
