Major Crimes is a spin-off of the popular American police drama The Closer. After "the Closer", Brenda Leigh Johnson left the LAPD, her role as the new head of the Major Crimes Division was filled by this show's main protagonist Captain Sharon Raydor. The show captures her journey towards gaining the trust of her subordinate officers all while having to deal with unsolved major cases. Raydor is forced to deal with both problems at the individual level and in terms of the aggregate of the Major Crimes Division. She is subjected to individual insubordination and group skepticism.
