Set in New York City, Law & Order: SVU often mirrors current headlines regarding domestic violence, child abuse and rape. They change names and locations. The elite detectives deal with community pressure to solve crimes in the news and often work with the district attorney?s office. The detectives also have to deal with their own prejudices when dealing with victims.
