Helen, a fiercely independent senior, temporarily moves into a retirement home, Pine Grove Senior Community, while her house is being repaired. While there, she meets a widower and realizes it's never too late to find love. She also meets a group of women who act like mean high schoolers, who play cutthroat bridge. At first, Helen finds their bullying behavior of the retirement community's Queen Bees tiring, but she ends up making new fiends.
