Wanting to relive his glory days in the military, a man is bound and determined to rekindle his life by reenlisting. However, he learns of the death of a well-known sergeant from his previous deployment. To honor his family's last wishes, he accepts an offer to reunite an unruly service canine with its deceased owner at the funeral. Thinking the task trivial, the man sets about his journey when he runs into a snag: the dog is the devil reincarnate. Through their trials and tribulations together, both dog and man find new meaning in life, and as a result, reshape who they believe they are.
