Mae Morton, daughter of the famous photographer Christina Eames, makes a shocking discovery after her mother dies: In a safe-deposit box, she finds a photograph from her mother's youth and a letter addressed to her that makes her question if she ever truly knew the woman. While searching for answers, Mae cross paths with a journalist, Michael Block, who is working on a story about Christina. The two immediately and unexpectedly experience sparks, and Michael asks her on a date. Soon after they start a romance with Michael hoping that it can become something more. Yet, Mae is still comparing her life to her mother's and wonders if she can ever be lucky with love.
