An English family takes a Polish violin prodigy into their care, and after a rocky start he befriends their own son. The two become like brothers until one day the Polish prodigy disappears without a trace. The Englishman decides to look for his lost friend, and a tale of guilt and love ensues. Forty years later and a search across Europe and the Englishman gets a clue to what may have happened to the prodigy all those years ago.
