As Mara comes of age, she meets a boy and decides her future is with him. Following the traditions of her community and church, her father, who also happens to be the pastor, helps her to prepare for the consummation. Little does Mara know that traditions are not always as they seem. Now she must decide if keeping the custom is worth keeping the secrets that come with it. Can she be strong enough to withstand what she knows, or will she fall to the truth of what tradition really means in this Pentecostal community?
