Despite being inspired by the wholesome and long running Archie comic book series, there's little wholesome about Riverdale. The titular town in which Archie and his friends live is more Twin Peaks than Mayberry, and the teen drama often takes a turn for the dark and the melodramatic. But the core components of the Archie universe are still here. At the heart of this drama is the famed love triangle between Archie, Betty, and Veronica, but there's an undercurrent of mystery to the series' narrative as well. The tragic death of student Jason Blossom draws Archie and his friends into its orbit.
