For one young woman, life is almost destroyed during an apocalyptic event during her childhood. As researchers struggle to figure out why the world is populated by "remnants"-their name for ghosts that appear and disappear within seconds-this young woman finds that she is haunted by a young man who seems to want to hurt her. She doesn't have time to figure out how or why, but it seems as though he is capable of piercing the veil between the living and the dead-and he wants her dead.
