In an alternate universe, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famed detective, Sherlock Holmes, is become a recovering drug addict and detective who lives in Manhattan and consults sometimes on NYPD cases after his addiction and rehab destroyed his career in London as a consultant for Scotland Yard. His father helps pay for his home and pursuits, but only as long as Sherlock can stay clean and sober. To help Sherlock stay on the wagon, his father provides him with live-in sober companions. Most quit after Sherlock pushes them too far until Dr. Joan Watson, a form surgeon, takes up the post. Sherlock would normally try to make her leave like all of the rest, but there's just something about her that's different and fascinates him...
