Twelve-year-old Ryan isn't too thrilled when her dad makes her move with him to a sleepy fishing town. She has to share a house with her ornery grandfather, and there don't seem to be a lot of friend-making opportunities around town. She wants to go back home. However, she explores a mysterious cove and finds a haven occupied by dolphins and a strange girl named Coral who eventually reveals herself to be a mermaid. She and Ryan form a fast friendship, and the two of them dream up a plan that will have repercussions for everyone in this tiny village.
