When Jess Day and her boyfriend break up, she isn't entirely sure how to move on with her life. She answers an advertisement online for a group of guys looking for a roommate. Though Jess is nothing like what they expected with her random bursts into song and naivete, she quickly wins over law school dropout turned bartender Nick, perfectionist businessman Schmidt, and lost without his basketball career Winston. Her model best friend Cece easily becomes a fixture in the guys' lives as well, and the five of them form a very dysfunctional friendship.
