Leonard and Sheldon work for Caltech. They're brilliant and self-professed nerds with a difficult time in social situations with women. They are friends with two other physicists from Caltech named Howard and Rajesh. The four of them spend all of their time working on projects or playing video games. All that changes when Penny moves in next door. Penny is beautiful, and turns the mens' lives around. They want to meet women but are socially inept. Penny helps them to break through their shells and Leonard decides that he wants Penny as more than a friend in his life.
