A portrait of several generations of the Valentino family, this story examines what lengths people will go to in order to protect those they care about. The Valentinos are an upper-middle class New York family. With a failing business, family rivalries, and conflicts that stretch across the different generational gaps though, their balance is threatened by so many internal forces that it's a wonder they manage to maintain their ties.
