Brilliant and bipolar Carrie Mathison is a CIA field agent who is reassigned after enagaging in an illegal mission in the Middle East. After being placed in a counter-terrorism unit, she makes the discovery that a prisoner of war is currently working for Al-Qaeda. After American forces rescue Nicholas Brody, a marine who was held captive for eight years, Carrie realizes he is the one who was turned by the terrorists. As Brody reintegrates back into society and becomes a decorated war hero being groomed for political office, Carrie goes to extreme lengths to expose him for the danger that he is.
