Being a police officer in Portland is often a dreary and tiring job. For Nick Burkhardt, he has the added problem of seeing creatures. Also known as Wesen, these creatures are normal human beings, but with a supernatural side. With his aunt mysteriously murdered, Nick finds himself seeing these creatures morph before his eyes on open city streets. Before he believes that he is losing his mind, he discovers that he is a Grimm. Although not supernatural, a Grimm keeps the peace by killing out-of-control Wesen with ancient weapons. With his police partner, Hank, Nick must keep his Grimm persona a secret as they fight crime. Nick finds a confidante in a local neighbor, Monroe, who is a werewolf Wesen. He does not eat meat anymore, however, and provides Nick with pertinent information about local Wesen activity. As Wesens begin to learn of the Grimm's identity, Nick's life is thrown into turmoil. Keeping his secret is becoming harder, especially with supernatural crimes that are difficult to explain. With a mysterious police sargent helping Nick and Hank out, this Grimm's job is never done.
