In "The Six Million Dollar Man," former U.S. astronaut Col. Steve Austin nearly loses his life after a malfunction causes his experimental lifting body aircraft to crash. He is severely injured, but because of the efforts of one of his best friends, Dr. Rudy Wells, Austin is partially rebuilt with bionic body parts. He receives two new legs, an arm and one eye at a cost of $6 million. Now a cyborg, Austin could run 60 mph, has the physical power equivalent to a bulldozer and has 20:1 zoom lens and infrared capabilities. He is tapped by the U.S. government to work as a secret agent by the Office of Scientific Intelligence.
