Smash is a musical drama series centered on a Broadway production about Marilyn Monroe. The series begins with just a concept of the musical and progresses through story development, music score, casting, financing and all the intricate details of getting to Broadway. The back story involves all the eccentric and passionate characters in show business and how their relationships can make or break an entire production. The show combines beautifully written original music, intricate choreographed dance arrangements, stunning costume design and breathtaking stage presentations to give the audience the full theater experience. The main character, Karen Cartwright, is a small-town girl attempting to become a star in New York City. She soon learns that she must decide to either stay the sweet, naive girl or harden her heart and go after her dream. Her nemesis, Ivy Lynn, has it all ? talent, experience, beauty and the drive to take what she wants regardless of the cost. As the battle unfolds between the two challengers, the audience will be spellbound to see who will ultimately prevail and become the next Bombshell, Marilyn Monroe.
