7.9Focusing on the War on Drugs and U.S. drug policy, this documentary explores the tragedy of addicts being incarcerated like criminals as well as the problems posed by prohibition in relation to freedom. Families are broken and prisons becoming over-crowded with non-violent criminals as a result of policies instituted since the War on Drugs began, forty ago. More than 45 million have been arrested, and America has become the jailer of the world, all while communities are being destroyed. Moreover, drugs are still being sold, especially in schools and places where children gather. The movie examines what has gone wrong with these policies and how we can see past the propaganda and slogans to become more compassionate, thus beginning a real solution to the problem.
