Parenthood chronicles three generations of the Braverman family and their life in Berkeley and the Bay Area. The family is headed by Zeek and Camille, retired parents and grandparents. Zeek is a Vietnam Vet and Camille a budding artist who is rediscovering her gifts in her golden years. The four Braverman children are busy with their own families now. Practical Adam and his wife Kristina are balancing the needs of their overachiever daughter Haddie, while dealing with the struggle of raising a son, Max, and his diagnosis of Aspergers. Sarah Braverman has had to move home with her parents, after finally giving up on her marriage to her addict and musician ex-husband. She must struggle with the issues of moving in with her parents, and raising her wild teenage daughter, Amber, and her withdrawn son, Drew. Julia, the high-powered lawyer and her stay-at-home husband Joel are discovering the tribulations of raising a smart, opinionated daugher, Sydney. Crosby, the free-wheeling single baby of the family has his freedom cut short when his ex girlfriend shows up at his doorstep with a surprise- their five-year-old son, Jabbar.
