SYNOPSIS
Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstedter and theoretical physicists who both work for a prestigious Los Angeles university. They are roommates, and they live across the hall from the free-spirited and rather ditzy Penny. Leonard develops a crush on her instantly, and she soon begins spending more time with her neighbors and their friends Raj Koothrapali and Howard Wolowitz, who are best friends and who also work with Sheldon and Leonard. As the series develops, Leonard and Penny draw closer together, and each of the other men develops a significant long-term relationship as well. This mellows them out, allowing them to focus on things other than their desire to hook up with women. Sheldon is unusual in that he has no interest in sex, and his relationship with Amy, a biologist who is as geeky as he is, tends toward the purely platonic, much to her disappointment. Sheldon is the most entertaining of the characters because of his many quirks, but all of them are engaging, and the constant pop culture references up the entertainment factor.
