Merlin is sent to Camelot, capital of the kingdom Albion, by his mother to page for the Court's sage physician Gaias. Camelot is ruled by Uther Pendragon, a sovereign who loathes magic and has banned it from Albion. Gaias guides Merlin in his medicinal and magical studies. Merlin discovers the last dragon in Albion has been imprisoned deep under the kingdom by Uther. The dragon reveals over time that Merlin and the King's imprudent son Arthur, have intertwining destinies. Merlin becomes Arthur's Squire, a position that will further gel their crossed destinies. Uther's iron-fist approach to ruling causes Morgana to turn against the throne and the people of Albion. Are Merlin's budding powers strong enough to halt Morgana's desire for revenge? Can he and Gaias keep the evils which vex Camelot and Albion at bay long enough for Arthur to prove he is a better king than Uther? Will Albion become the great kingdom the dragon hinted it would be? How is Merlin's destiny tied into Camelot's mystical secrets?
